VERY GOOD TRIP TO LONDON !
Les élèves de 4e et 3e du collège Compère MOREL de BRETEUIL ont découvert les rues de la capitale du Royaume Uni, décorées à l’occasion du couronnement du nouveau Roi, Charles III, ainsi que les merveilleux parcs et autres sites touristiques.
Avec un départ du collège avant l’aube, le groupe de 48 adolescents est arrivé à Calais au petit matin où, après un passage aux douanes, ils ont pu monter à bord d’un ferry boat ; un tour sur le pont sous la pluie,puis dans la boutique duty free, un bref passage au bureau de change suivi de quelques parties de jeux et c’est déjà le moment de débarquer à Douvres !
Quelle merveille d’arriver dans Londres, 2 heures après, en passant sur Tower Bridge et voir au loin la tour de verre « the Shard »,
la Tamise ou encore London Eye !
Et enfin la visite commence par « Covent Garden Market » et ses jolies petites boutiques, ses tea shops et ses drapeaux ; un peu de repos, un sandwich et nous voilà repartis découvrir Chinatown et ses fanions rouges, Trafalgar Square, la colonne de Nelson et ses fontaines, Piccadilly Circus avec ses immenses panneaux publicitaires lumineux !
Que d’animation partout entre les danseurs, les chanteurs et autres artistes de rue !
Encore un petit effort pour aller à White Hall et voir les « horse guards » si sérieux dans
leur magnifique uniforme et leurs chevaux si dociles !
Et le 1er jour se finit en beauté avec « Elizabeth’s Tower » et Big Ben, le Palais de Westminster avec le parlement, Westminster Abbey, où sera couronné le Prince Charles seulement 4 jours après, et tout le trajet qu’empruntera le carosse d’or sous les décorations de la grande avenue « the Mall » !
Reste maintenant à rencontrer les familles d’accueil et à récupérer pour affronter le jour suivant !
Mercredi, c’est au tour du British Museum d’émerveiller nos élèves avec ses centaines d’objets historiques venant des 5 continents ! La chance est avec nous et c’est sous le soleil que nous déjeunons dans Hyde Park en compagnie des oiseaux, avant un quartier libre dans Oxford Street et ses innombrables magasins pour du shopping !
Le retour dans les familles est bien calme après une journée si remplie !
Jeudi, visite du musée de Mme Tussaud où les adolescents ont pu prendre des selfies avec les célébrités de cire, entre Beyoncé et la famille royale, les héros Marvel ou les personnalités politiques ! Un tour à la boutique et nous voilà dans Baker Street, la rue de Sherlock Holmes ! Après toutes ces émotions, déjeuner sur le pouce dans un Regent’s Park recouvert de pâquerettes et ses oies, canards et autres volatiles, sans oublier les dodus écureuils gris ! Et cette 3e belle journée se termine à Camden Market, étonnant avec toutes ses échopes offrant 1001 merveilleuses idées de cadeaux à rapporter à la
maison !
Le vendredi est malheureusement le dernier jour de notre séjour Londonien et les élèves ne manquent pas de remercier leurs familles d’accueil, qui se sont montrées bienveillantes et à l’écoute !
La matinée est résevée à la visite du Globe, copie fidèle du théâtre de William Shakespeare, avec un guide passionnant qui nous plonge dans le XVIIe siècle ! Et quelle chance de voir des comédiens professionnels répéter « La Comédie des Erreurs » sur la scène !
Mais il nous faut rejoindre le car, un peu tristes alors que le ciel Londonien pleure à grosses gouttes sur nos têtes !!
Que de choses à montrer et à raconter en rentrant à la maison et peut être même l’envie de revenir, il reste encore tant de rues, de musées, de parcs à voir dans une ville qui nous aura livré, après tout, qu’un aperçu de ses multiples facettes !
